Program Highlights

AFGRI invites dynamic candidates to join its 3-year technical apprenticeship program offering dual specialization options:

  • Tractor Mechanic Certification
  • Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic Certification

Comprehensive Training Package

  • Practical workshop training under expert mentorship
  • Theoretical instruction at AFGRI’s Training Institute
  • Advanced equipment training at John Deere Facility (Boksburg)
  • Specialized technical modules from industry partners
  • N2 subject completion support (where required)

Financial Commitment: Full training cost coverage contingent on successful program completion. Candidates failing modules must self-fund repeat attempts. Mandatory 3-year service contract applies post-qualification.

Candidate Responsibilities

  • Execute equipment maintenance & repair procedures
  • Maintain workshop inventory systems
  • Provide technical support to field teams
  • Ensure service delivery standards
  • Complete assigned technical projects

Minimum Entry Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Valid Code B Driver’s License
  • N2 Certificate with:
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering Science
    • Diesel Trade Theory
    • Electronics/Engineering Drawing (Optional)

Alternative Pathway

Candidates without N2 may apply with Senior Certificate containing:

  • Mathematics/Technical Maths (40%+)
  • Physical Science/Technical Science (40%+)
  • Engineering Graphics & Design

Upgrading Opportunity: AFGRI sponsors N2 completion for qualifying applicants through FET colleges prior to apprenticeship commencement.
