RCL Foods is committed to providing more food to more people more often. We are looking for a Despatch Clerk to join our Benoni Bakery team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Despatch Coordinator.

Purpose of the Position

The Despatch Clerk will verify and record all incoming and outgoing goods, supervise truck loading, and work closely with drivers to ensure timely deliveries.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, ERP/WMS systems)
  • Organised, detail‑oriented and systems focused
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self‑starter who uses initiative
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent time‑management and prioritisation
  • Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Numerical skills for stock reconciliation
  • Knowledge of logistics and dispatch processes
  • Health & safety awareness
  • Customer service orientation
  • Adaptable and flexible in a fast‑paced environment
  • Grade 12; National Diploma in a related field is an advantage
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FMCG environment

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all trucks are dispatched on time each morning.
  • Arrange replacement staff when necessary.
  • Maintain uniform compliance for the dispatch team.
  • Coordinate internal distribution labour as needed.
  • Complete daily dispatch reconciliation documents.
  • Keep accurate records of all goods received and dispatched.
  • Deliver excellent customer service within the dispatch department.
  • Verify all data entry is accurate.
  • Confirm returns and reconcile with production.
  • Monitor and report stock variances to management.
  • Ensure trucks load on schedule.
  • Manage shift changes and handovers efficiently.
  • Check that trucks meet safety and hygiene standards before departure.
  • Prepare and verify delivery notes, invoices, and POD documents.
  • Assist with inventory control and cycle counts.
  • Liaise with production, sales, and logistics teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Address and resolve issues such as delayed trucks or damaged goods and report unresolved problems to the Despatch Coordinator.
  • Suggest improvements to reduce turnaround time and participate in training initiatives.
