Job Purpose

Provide hands‑on technical and general maintenance support across all Air Chefs facilities and fleet. Work alongside qualified artisans—mechanics, plumbers, electricians, refrigeration technicians, and builders—to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and installations, ensuring facilities and equipment remain safe, clean and fully operational.

Principal Responsibilities

• Assist artisans with all aspects of maintenance, repair and installation of equipment and facilities.
• Support plumbing tasks: leak repairs, pipe fitting, fixture replacement.
• Help refrigeration technicians service coolers, freezers and HVAC systems.
• Carry out basic electrical work such as replacing lights, plugs and switches, and aid electricians with fault finding.
• Participate in building maintenance: carpentry, masonry, painting and floor tile repairs.
• Perform minor welding and fabrication under supervision.
• Install and replace doors, locks, handles, hinges and other interior fittings.
• Assist with fleet maintenance for high‑loader trucks, light vehicles and other questions.
• Keep tools and maintenance equipment clean, stored safely and ready for use.
• Follow health, safety and environmental standards in every task.
• Report hazards, equipment issues or material shortages to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly.
• Support emergency maintenance work and may be required for standby or weekend duties.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (essential).
• Preferred: N2 or higher in a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical or Building Maintenance).
• 1–3 years of experience in a general maintenance or artisan assistant role.
• Valid driver’s licence (Code 10) is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment and safety procedures.
• Experience in industrial, catering or manufacturing settings is a plus.
