Environmental Geologist Internship

About the Role
SRK Consulting is looking for one motivated Environmental Geologist Intern for each of our Durban and Cape Town offices. This internship will give you the chance to work on real projects, learn from senior professionals, and become part of a team dedicated to protecting the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in fieldwork and site investigations for contaminated land projects.
- Collect, manage, and interpret environmental data (soil, water, air).
- Support the preparation of technical reports for clients and regulatory bodies.
- Help with groundwater studies and remediation plans for industrial and mining sites.
- Assist senior staff with monitoring, sampling, and data analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Honours degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry or Soil Science.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- South African citizenship, valid driver’s licence, and willingness to travel.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of South African environmental legislation.
- Experience with groundwater modelling or GIS.
- Strong research, data analysis and report writing abilities.
- A genuine passion for environmental work.
