About the Role
This apprentice position involves hands‑on work with heavy earthmoving machinery. You will learn how to inspect, troubleshoot, test, maintain, and repair equipment in a workshop setting or at customer sites. The role also requires basic administrative duties such as creating service reports, booking labour, managing parts, and compiling accurate machine analysis and inspection reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect heavy earthmoving products for condition and performance.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
- Remove and install components in a workshop or on customer sites.
- Order and track spare parts.
- Maintain own administrative records (service reports, labour booking, parts returns, expenses).
- Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports, including Machine Inspection Reports (MIR).
Qualifications & Skills
- Grade 12 or N3 with a minimum pass of 45% in Pure Mathematics.
- Grade 12 with a minimum pass of 45% in English.
- Grade 12 or N3 with a minimum pass of 45% in Physical Science.
- N2/N3 in relevant theory (Motor/Diesel and/or Electrical/Electronic theory) is an advantage.
- Technician for the World certificate is an advantage.
- Minimum Code B learner’s licence (light motor vehicle) is an added advantage.
