Job Summary

This role supports mechanics in inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment. The successful candidate will also handle parts ordering, administrative paperwork, customer reporting and general workshop duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with the inspection of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Help carry out basic troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Support technicians in removing and installing components, both in the workshop and at customer sites.
• Order spare parts as needed.
• Manage administrative tasks such as service reports, labour bookings, parts returns, and expenses.
• Compile accurate machine analysis and reports, including Machine Inspection Reports (MIR).
• Perform general duties, maintain housekeeping standards, and provide customer support.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Grade 12 or N3 with a minimum 45% pass in Pure Mathematics, English and Physical Science.
• Knowledge of Motor/Diesel theory and/or Electrical/Electronic theory is an advantage.
• Certificate from “Technicians for The World” is a plus.
• Minimum Code B Learner’s Licence (light motor vehicle) is an additional advantage.
• Strong reading, writing and speaking skills.
• Good numeracy skills.
