Role Overview
The Receiving Controller will be part of the Baking Division in Benoni and will report directly to the Distribution Manager. The main responsibility is to ensure accurate receipt, inspection, and control of crates and returns, following company standards and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving & Inspection: Receive incoming crates and returns from delivery routes and feeders. Verify quantities against documentation and inspect goods for quality, quantity, and compliance.
- Crate Management: Record all crate movements, including broken or foreign items. Coordinate with van crews, depots, and other bakeries for daily confirmation. Ensure proper storage and stacking to avoid damage and contamination.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete receiving paperwork and update the inventory system. Report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards. Handle crates safely to prevent injury.
- Coordination: Work closely with production and dispatch teams to provide timely crate supplies. Assist with stock counts and audits as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma (Grade 12/Matric) or equivalent.
- 3–4 years of experience in a warehouse, receiving, or inventory control role (preferably in food production or bakery).
- Experience managing people or leading teams for 1–2 years.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office) and proficiency in Syspro and Excel.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles is an advantage.

- Physical ability to lift and move crates safely.
Working Conditions
This role involves a bakery production environment with noise and 24/7 operations. A shift schedule that may include weekends and public holidays is required, depending on production and delivery needs.
