About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and physically fit individual to serve as a Walking Courier at the Richmond Collections site. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and delivering laboratory specimens safely and efficiently within and near our premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Log into the system to record attendance as per standard operating procedures.
- Check the collection and delivery reports placed on the rack by the controllers.
- Sort reports by route to ensure timely and efficient movement of specimens.
- Record reference numbers on the register book, serving as proof of receipt for doctors.
- Load cooler bags with ice in accordance with safety procedures.
- Collect and deliver specimens internally, between depots, and to the correct destinations.
- Scan specimen barcodes to support tracking processes.
- Perform hospital rounds, deliver reports, and collect samples as per SOP.
- Keep own working area clean and maintain basic housekeeping.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Adhere to Lancet laboratory uniform protocols.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 0-1 year of relevant work experience (Entry level).
- Grade 10 / Grade 12 or a relevant NQF Level 4 qualification is preferred.
- Physical fitness and the ability to walk long distances.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time‑management skills.
- Adherence to health & safety best practices.
