Graduate Technologist
Location: Durban, KwaZulu‑Natal

About the Role
As a Graduate Technologist, you will join a leading engineering and infrastructure company, SMEC, and support a range of projects across the region. Your main responsibility is to deliver accurate technical drawings and documentation that meet project standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to improve project processes and suggest practical solutions.
- Keep up‑to‑date with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to project delivery.
- Document project details in accordance with supervisor guidelines and industry best practices.
- Create high‑quality drawings and related documentation using standard engineering software.
- Participate actively in technical discussions and project delivery meetings.
- Prepare concise meeting minutes that capture action items and decisions.
- Collaborate with internal project teams and external consultants to ensure seamless project workflow.
- Prepare payment certificates and budget forecasts to support financial tracking.
- Resolve on‑site conflicts or disagreements between consultants diplomatically, ensuring that solutions are fair and respectful.
Required Qualifications
- National Diploma (N. Dip) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in a relevant engineering field.
- 0–3 years of experience after qualification (internship or entry‑level experience is acceptable).
- Strong motivation to learn and develop technical expertise.
- Ability to produce accurate documentation within assigned deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and commitment to quality.
- Good awareness of time management and milestone delivery.
- Continuous learning mindset, always seeking ways to improve skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ownership mentality – take responsibility for own work and deliver results.
- Team player who adapts easily to changing project needs.
