About the Position
We are looking for a reliable and friendly General Assistant to support our store operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for customer service, merchandising, housekeeping, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of their assigned area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service, advising and assisting shoppers on product choices and resolving questions or complaints.
- Merchandise bulk stock areas safely and according to the store layout plan.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the assigned aisle, including removing obstacles and ensuring aisles are free of hazards.
- Correctly label shelves and update prices within your area.
- Complete daily housekeeping checklists and coordinate with canteen and restroom schedules.
- Adhere to OHSA safety requirements, use protective gear, and report any safety concerns to the Store Manager.
- Monitor stock loss, report damaged or missing items, and help maintain inventory accuracy.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one year of related work experience, or Grade 12 without prior experience.
- Good command of English and the dominant local language.
- Valid South African ID or work permit.
- Basic math skills for accurate calculations.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
