About the Role

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Support Team is looking for a curious and motivated student or recent graduate to join us as a Cloud Support Associate Intern. Over a six‑month period you will work with a global team to help customers solve real‑world cloud challenges, learn cutting‑edge technologies, and develop the skills that are in high demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot customer issues through telephone, e‑mail and live chat.
  • Apply structured problem‑solving techniques to identify root causes and deliver effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with AWS engineers worldwide on complex support incidents and development of new tools.
  • Design, build, and deploy scripts or small applications that improve support processes.
  • Work on process‑improvement projects and contact‑deflection initiatives.
  • Participate in cross‑functional hiring and training activities.
    • Engage with senior engineers to gain insight into AWS architecture and best practices.

What You’ll Do Day‑to‑Day

The Cloud Support Builder will spend the day helping customers by:

  • Receiving and responding to support tickets across multiple channels.
  • Conducting in‑depth troubleshooting to diagnose cloud infrastructure problems.
  • Using your scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Documenting findings and solutions in a clear, customer‑friendly manner.
  • Collaborating with teammates to create knowledge‑base articles and workflow improvements.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a higher‑education programme in a technology field (NQF level 4–6).
  • Basic knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, Ruby, or shell).
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, databases, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of database, storage, and big‑data concepts.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals: CIDR, OSI model, DNS, HTTP, TCP/UDP, DHCP, routing, switching, subnets, NAT.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Prior customer‑facing experience.
