Job Description

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies in Parkmore Mews is looking for a friendly and organised Clinic Receptionist to join our team. Your main role is to greet patients, manage appointments, and provide excellent customer service both over the phone and in person. You will help keep the clinic running smoothly and support quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Register new patients following company standards.
  • Assist patients in completing forms and medical insurance details.
  • Maintain clinical equipment, stationery and medication supplies.
  • Explain clinic procedures to patients and manage their records.
  • Open new patient files using standard protocols.
  • Ensure patient information is accurate.
  • Process medical aid payments.
  • Guide patients to their appointments on time.
  • Obtain medical reports when required.
  • Keep the reception area clean and maintain patient privacy.
  • Answer all incoming calls within a reasonable time using Dis‑Chem’s telephone etiquette.
  • Provide accurate information to callers and record their details.
  • Confirm and confirm the message and contact details to callers.
  • Ensure messages and calls are transferred to the correct staff member.
  • Assist walk‑in guests to contact staff for meetings or deliveries.
  • Provide information on area codes, phone numbers and other requested details.
  • Respond to emergencies and offer support to distressed patients.
  • Advise patients on medical aid authorisation procedures.
  • Follow up with patients on feedback or queries.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Driver’s licence and/or reliable transport.
  • Clear criminal and credit record for the MIE assessment.
  • Dedicated workstation – sit at a desk most of the day.

Competencies

  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Deadline driven.
  • Follow and give oral and written instructions.
