Job Overview

The Kitchen Hand Prep supports kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This role is essential for ensuring the consistent delivery of high‑quality food, managing stock effectively, and adhering to health and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Wash, chop, and portion ingredients according to restaurant standards and recipes.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify that all prepared ingredients meet quality standards before use.
  • Assist with Cooking: Prepare mise en place and help chefs with cooking tasks as directed.
  • Stock Management:
    • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Kitchen Supervisor or Manager.
    • Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to reduce waste.
    • Store ingredients and supplies properly, labeling them according to food safety guidelines.
    • Dispose of waste in accordance with kitchen waste reduction practices.
  • Health & Hygiene:
    • Keep workstations, surfaces, equipment, and utensils clean.
    • Follow hand‑washing, PPE, and safe food handling protocols.
    • Maintain kitchen compliance with health inspection standards.
    • Sanitize equipment, tools, and storage areas regularly.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations related to food handling.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and hygiene.
