Job Description

The Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for visitors and staff, ensuring smooth front‑office operations. Key duties include:

  • Greeting visitors and clients in person and via phone.
  • Scheduling meetings and managing the office calendar.
  • Handling courier and delivery services, ensuring items reach the correct recipients.
  • Maintaining a tidy reception area and keeping inventory of refreshments and stationery.
  • Answering, screening, and forwarding phone calls.
  • Sorting and distributing mail.
  • Performing administrative tasks: filing, photocopying, transcribing, emailing, and faxing.
  • Assisting staff with leave applications that lack computer access.
  • Organizing departmental functions such as teas and lunches.
  • Receiving and signing deliveries, verifying invoices, and coordinating with internal finance.
  • Managing documentation for accreditation and audit processes (GLP/SANAS).

Inherent Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) – proof required.
  • Previous experience as a receptionist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Office Administration, Hospitality Management, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in at least three official languages (in addition to English).
  • Minimum five (5) years of receptionist experience.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.

Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary: R231 699.90 – R388 426.59, depending on budget, experience, and qualifications.
