Job Summary

This role supports food preparation and serving activities within the Department’s facilities. The main duties include keeping kitchen areas clean, preparing refreshments, and ensuring that all health and hygiene standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Prepare snacks, beverages (water, tea, coffee, sugar, cold drinks).
• Set up crockery, cutlery and equipment for dining areas.
• Serve food and drinks to staff and visitors.
• Apply hygiene and safety measures in line with health regulations.
• Monitor inventory of kitchen supplies and report shortages or wastage.
• Assist with garbage disposal and waste management.
• Provide general catering support as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 1 or 2 certificate, or equivalent.
• Relevant qualification in hospitality or catering (N6 or diploma) is an advantage.
• At least two (2) years of experience in food preparation or serving.
• Experience in cleaning, ideally three (3) years working as a cleaner, is advantageous.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑moving environment.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene, safety procedures and quality control.

Working Conditions

The position requires flexible hours, including shifts and overtime as needed.
