Job Purpose
Maintain sites and facilities across Tshwane by cutting grass to required standards and performing general maintenance on developed and undeveloped open spaces, natural resources, and surrounding facilities to enhance environmental quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lawnmowers and brush cutters to cut grass at parks, play areas, traffic islands, malls, squares, boulevards, sporting facilities, cemeteries, resorts and other municipal sites.
- Provide maintenance support at City of Tshwane facilities such as crèches, old‑age homes, hostels, fire stations, and other community services.
- Follow instructions, read and write machine manuals, and ensure all safety guidelines under the Occupational Health and Safety Act are met.
- Work shifts as needed and adapt to changing schedules.
- Support the overall cleanliness and appearance of municipal green spaces.
Application Requirements
- Basic literacy and ability to read, write and follow machine instructions.
- Physical fitness with no back problems; strong ability to work outdoors for long periods.
- Relevant experience operating a brush cutter or lawnmower is advantageous.
- Willingness to undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints taken by TMPD at own cost).
- Capacity to work shifts and be reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated.
