About the Position

This internship offers hands‑on experience in a busy laboratory environment at the Parow Plant Snacks facility. You will work with quality and safety teams to ensure that products meet PepsiCo’s high standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and collate data throughout the shift for reporting and analysis.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and ensure accurate measurements.
• Carry out routine analytical and quality tests, including “In Market” checks.
• Investigate any out‑of‑spec results, identify causes and implement corrective actions.
• Assist in troubleshooting to improve test accuracy and data quality.
• Provide real‑time feedback to production staff on quality opportunities.
• Document all test results and complete required reports.
• Conduct allergen swabbing and support handling of foreign object incidents.
• Maintain stock levels and manage on‑hold, rejected and released items.
• Perform HACCP monitoring and support food safety protocols (AIB, FSSC 22000).
• Participate in laboratory audits (internal ASHA & external) and help prepare for audits.
• Support new trials, commissioning projects and production meetings.
• Work with peers to enhance quality systems and improve laboratory processes.
• Provide practical training assistance to new laboratory staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (Matric) plus a Food Technology Diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to work shift hours.
