Role Overview

The Bulk Controller ensures smooth bulk operations, maximising productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards. You will manage routine tasks, lead a team, and coordinate with planning to keep the warehouse running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and review daily inbound load plans and communicate any capacity issues to the central stock planning team.
• Supervise inbound receipts and outbound loading of bulk goods.
• Support stock replenishment to picking areas to keep inventory levels optimal.
• Implement and monitor stock rotation to prevent expiry and obsolescence.
• Design and organise the layout of bulk, freezer and chiller areas for efficient storage.
• Monitor temperature control systems to ensure product integrity.
• Oversee equipment offloading and replenishment, preserving asset condition.
• Manage warehouse capacity to maximise space utilisation and avoid overstocking.
• Generate detailed reports on operations, performance and capacity.
• Record supplier non‑compliances and report them daily.
• Inspect racking systems regularly for safety and integrity.
• Improve visual performance indicators in the bulk area.
• Reduce Chep pallet usage to lower costs.
• Track truck arrival times and coordinate batching with the truck planning department.
• Enforce PPE usage and overall safety compliance.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety standards.
• Lead and develop the team, holding daily, weekly and monthly meetings.
• Manage time and attendance, plan leave and address industrial relations.
• Coach and train team members to achieve performance targets.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role – FMCG retail experience is preferred.
