Job Overview

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Casual Cashier to work at our Springs Mall store in the East Rand Region. The role supports customer service at the point of sale and ensures a world‑class shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Record customer transactions accurately on the Dis‑Chem POS system.
• Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures and a zero‑tolerance policy for inaccuracies.
• Provide basic customer service and maintain a professional relationship with shoppers.
• Report complaints or compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
• Maintain the required customer turnover hourly rate and stay aware of current promotions.
• Handle cash flow responsibly and keep all money safely inside the till.
• Process all forms of payment including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons and loyalty cards.
• Process returns and exchanges as authorised and keep accurate records.
• Ensure all price changes and line voids are approved by the supervisor.
• Follow Dis‑Chem 5‑star communication principles and security policies.
• Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts.
• Report suspicious activity and follow all security procedures.
• Assist with analysis of basic sales reports as required.

Essential Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in cashier/till operations.
• Computer‑literate – basic MS Office skills.
• Strong numerical skills.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
• Basic customer service experience.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.

Advantages

Knowledge of a third additional language will be considered an advantage.
