About the Role
AfriGIS is looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Junior HR Practitioner to join our team. In this role you will support key HR initiatives, manage the full employee lifecycle, and help create a compliant, engaging, and positive workplace. The position is based at our Head Office in Pretoria.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant degree in HR or Industrial Psychology
- At least 2 years of experience in an HR generalist role
- Solid understanding of South African labour laws and HR best practices
Desirable Experience
- Experience with B‑BBEE scorecard management and tracking
- Experience in WSP reporting

Roles & Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development, and offboarding.
- Plan and document onboarding activities for new hires.
- Coordinate exit interviews and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and capturing feedback.
HR Policy Implementation & Compliance
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure policies are applied consistently across departments.
- Stay updated with labour legislation to maintain compliance.
Employee Relations & Support
- Act as a trusted advisor on HR matters.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through proactive engagement.
Training & Development
- Coordinate training initiatives and track attendance and effectiveness.
- Support the implementation of development plans and career pathing.
Performance Management
- Assist in facilitating performance review cycles.
- Support managers with performance improvement plans.
HR Administration
- Maintain and update employee records, contracts, and documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist managers with administrative tasks as needed.
Employment Equity & Skills Development
- Contribute to the implementation and tracking of the Employment Equity Plan.
- Assist with EE Committee coordination, meeting minutes, and reporting.
- Support skills development initiatives, including WSP/ATR submissions and learnership coordination.
Employee Wellness & Engagement
- Help plan and execute wellness programmes, awareness campaigns, and engagement activities.
- Assist in measuring employee engagement through surveys and feedback mechanisms.
Process Improvement & Projects
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance employee experience.
- Participate in HR projects such as policy reviews and change management initiatives.
- Support internal audits and prepare for external compliance checks.
