About the Role

The City of Tshwane is looking for four reliable and dedicated Artisan Assistants to join the Department of Regional Operations and Coordination. The successful candidates will work in the Water and Sanitation: Waste‑Water Collection Section (Region 3) and support the maintenance and improvement of wastewater collection systems.

Remuneration

  • Annual Salary: R166 800 – R200 832
  • Estimated Total Package: R245 272 – R288 588 per annum

Job Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to assist operational teams by carrying out tasks and following instructions from supervisors. Work will involve travelling to, and performing maintenance on, non‑energised electrical distribution networks related to the wastewater collection system, helping to meet project deadlines and maintenance targets.

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic literacy and the ability to carry out physical tasks.
  • Experience in a local authority water environment is advantageous.
  • Physically fit and in good health.
  • Willingness to work shifts and participate in rotational duties.
  • Must pass a criminal record check – fingerprints will be taken by TMPD at the candidate’s own cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks related to the wastewater collection network as directed.
  • Support project execution to achieve operational targets and deadlines.
  • Maintain and care for tools and equipment to ensure safe on‑site operations.
  • Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993).
  • Participate in rotational duties across teams to build multi‑skill capabilities.
