About the Learnership
The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security & Liaison invites young, motivated and dedicated individuals to apply for the Basic Traffic Officers Diploma Learnership 2025/2026. This 12‑month programme will give learners essential knowledge and hands‑on skills in traffic law enforcement. Successful candidates will be awarded a National Diploma in Basic Traffic Officer (NQF Level 4) upon completion.
Minimum Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Driver’s Licence: Valid Code B (manual transmission)
- Citizenship: South African citizen residing in Mpumalanga
- Criminal Record: No criminal record
- Health: Medically fit to perform strenuous physical activities (medical assessment required for shortlisted candidates)
- Competency Tests: Driving and fitness tests will be conducted as part of the selection process
Important Information
Training will take place at the Mpumalanga Traffic Training College in Mkhuhlu (Calcutta), within the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. Successful candidates will sign a 12‑month learnership agreement with the Department. The Department will carry out thorough suitability checks, which include:
- Verification of qualifications
- Criminal record screening
- Citizenship verification
- Financial record checks
- Validation of driver’s licence

Upload a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) that includes at least three (3) contactable references. Do not upload copies of qualifications at this stage; shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit them later. Incomplete or inaccurate applications will result in disqualification. Communication will only be made with shortlisted applicants. If you do not receive any feedback within three (3) months after the closing date, your application will be considered unsuccessful.
