Shopify Implementation Specialist Job Opportunity

A Johannesburg-based website design company is seeking a highly skilled Shopify Implementation Specialist with a strong technical foundation and a sharp eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be capable of building fully configured Shopify sites from the ground up while implementing advanced logic using CSS, Liquid, metafields, and basic JavaScript.

Duties

The role requires a fast, precise implementer who is detail-obsessed, logically minded, and able to problem-solve effectively from detailed specifications. Key responsibilities include:

• Setting up full Shopify sites using a comprehensive, pre-defined checklist
• Configuring store settings such as checkout, policies, shipping, languages, and currency
• Ensuring typography, spacing, and visual consistency across all pages
• Setting up homepage sections, collections, menus, favicons, and SEO
• Maintaining a high level of aesthetic and functional consistency
• Injecting and conditionally rendering metafields using Liquid
• Adding custom code to display or hide content per variant/location
• Implementing logic-based features such as quote buttons and filters
• Configuring custom forms with routed submissions
• Troubleshooting and debugging inconsistencies across themes and pages
• Managing API integrations and ERP connections
• Setting up and integrating third-party services such as couriers, payment gateways, and form builders
• Familiarity with a broad range of Shopify apps and their optimal use cases

Requirements

• Experience working with Shopify themes (Liquid, metafields, theme settings)
• Proficiency in HTML & CSS (including responsive layouts), Liquid templating language, and basic JavaScript
• Ability to follow and complete a detailed site setup checklist
• Capability to implement complex specifications with minimal handholding
• Fast turnaround without sacrificing quality
• Understanding of web hosting, domain settings, and FTPs

Nice to Have

• Experience with metafield APIs, filter systems, or Shopify CLI
• Familiarity with custom themes like Empire, Maranello, or Uminex
• Experience with product enrichment, app integrations, or wholesale logic
