A leading food manufacturer specializing in private-label perishable and shelf-stable foods seeks an experienced General Manager to oversee all staff, budgets, and operations in Cape Town. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a thoughtful leader and confident decision-maker with proven experience managing a medium-sized business of 50-100 employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and provide guidance, mentorship, and training to manufacturing employees.
- Manage employee performance, conduct evaluations, and resolve conflicts.
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency and timely production.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Manage and control production costs and budgets.
- Monitor and analyze production performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with business goals and objectives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation within the manufacturing facility.
- Establish policies and processes as needed.
- Ensure products meet quality standards and comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures and safety protocols.
- Manage and control the manufacturing budget to ensure financial performance and profitability.
- Analyze financial data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality assurance, and sales, to achieve business goals.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, department heads, and other stakeholders.
- Manage customer/client expectations and/or needs.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new employees.
Requirements:
- BSc/BCom in Business or Operations Management or a relevant field.
- Proven experience as a General Manager or a similar role.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Experience in planning, budgeting, manufacturing operations, process improvement, and quality control.
- Strong knowledge of business processes and functions (operations, manufacturing, finance, HR, procurement, technologies, industry standards, etc.).
Knowledge of the Woolworths production environment would be beneficial.
