About the Role
The City of Johannesburg’s Group Finance Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registry Clerk to join their Management Support Branch. This role is based at Thuso House in Braamfontein and is crucial for providing administrative support related to document management and information systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective flow and management of correspondence, filing, retrieval, and disposal of records in compliance with relevant guidelines and legislation.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification.
- A relevant National Diploma at NQF level 6.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a related field, preferably within a unit of similar or larger size.
- An understanding of the public sector industry will be a distinct advantage.
Primary Function
To provide comprehensive administrative support associated with effective document management and information systems. This includes managing the flow of correspondence, retrieving and filing documents, and disposing of obsolete files in line with established guidelines, standards, and legislation.
Key Performance Areas
- Provide effective administrative support to the department for an efficient document and information system.
- Handle mail correspondence, including classification, registration, scanning, and saving all records and documents into the electronic system.
- File, retrieve, and dispose of obsolete documents, records, and files appropriately.
- Assist with general office administration and related tasks.
- Manage document archiving, registering, and mailroom operations.
- Prepare and submit monthly compliance reports to the Group EXCO.

- Excellent Time Management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

- Knowledge of City regulations and the National Archiving Act (NAA).
