Job Description

BDO Johannesburg is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Graduate Recruitment Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is central to our talent acquisition strategy, focusing on attracting and securing exceptional graduates for our Johannesburg audit department. The successful candidate will manage the entire graduate recruitment lifecycle—from initial attraction and sourcing to selection, onboarding, and integration. Additionally, you will play a key role in managing our bursary programs and enhancing BDO’s reputation as a top employer for aspiring accountants.

Key Responsibilities

Graduate Recruitment & Selection

  • Manage the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment platforms.
  • Oversee the full graduate recruitment cycle, including advertising, application screening, assessments, interviews, offers, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate psychometric assessments, competency-based interviews, and reference/background checks.
  • Prepare and manage employment offers and contracts.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment trackers, candidate pipelines, and provide monthly recruitment reports.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, universities, and internal audit teams.
  • Partner with business units to understand workforce needs and align recruitment activities accordingly.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and partners to ensure a smooth and effective recruitment process.
  • Work with internal teams to facilitate the seamless onboarding and integration of new graduates.

Campus Engagement & Employer Branding

  • Represent BDO at university career fairs, campus events, and information sessions.
  • Facilitate presentations and workshops to promote the firm and engage with potential candidates.
  • Support marketing initiatives to strengthen BDO’s employer brand among students and graduates.
  • Manage the student ambassadors program and regional retention strategy.
  • Maintain BDO’s presence on social media and other digital platforms to attract top talent.

Recruitment Support

  • Assist in the implementation of recruitment campaigns aimed at attracting high-caliber accounting students.
  • Continuously improve graduate recruitment processes and support related projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to interns.
  • Keep detailed records of recruitment activities and provide regular updates.

Bursary Program Administration

  • Manage the bursary program, including maintaining records and liaising with bursary recipients.
  • Assist in budget monitoring and tracking the effectiveness of the program.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Requirements:
    • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • 2–4 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or a similar role, preferably within a professional services or audit environment.
    • Exposure to campus recruitment and/or bursary programs is essential.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure and report on recruitment outcomes.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Familiarity with recruitment platforms, social media, digital tools, and MS Office Suite.
    • Experience with recruitment systems (ATS, HRIS) is highly advantageous.
