Triton Academy is a TETA-accredited training provider offering specialized courses in Freight Handling and Professional Driving. Our programs are designed to develop industry-specific skills for both employed staff and unemployed learners, providing the knowledge and competencies needed to excel in the logistics and freight industry. Training is available in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.
Program Overview
We are currently building a talent pool of motivated and committed individuals for our 12-month National Certificate in Freight Handling. This comprehensive learnership program is designed to empower unemployed South African youth through structured theoretical training and hands-on practical experience in the dynamic logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities & Training Activities
- Loading and off-loading goods from vehicles safely and efficiently
- Preparing vehicles for trips and ensuring they meet safety standards
- Receiving, dispatching, and handling freight documentation accurately
- Performing ancillary warehouse and transport-related duties
- Delivery and collection of goods and stock according to schedule
- Maintaining clean workspaces through general housekeeping
- Picking and packing stock with precision and accuracy
- Receiving incoming stock and verifying against delivery documentation
- Ensuring correct stacking and securing of goods for safe transport
Learning & Development Components
- Structured theoretical training aligned with unit standards
- Comprehensive workplace practical experience under mentorship
- Preparation for final external verification assessments
- Professional development in logistics and freight handling
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Grade 12, TVET N3, or NQF Level 2 qualification
- Minimum 40% pass in Mathematics and English
- Age between 23-35 years
- Medically fit for physical work requirements
- Ability to read and write English proficiently
- Numerically oriented with good calculation skills
- Willingness to work weekends and shifts as required
- Clear criminal record
Residential Requirements:
Candidates must reside in one of the following Port Elizabeth areas:
- New Brighton, Walmer, Port Elizabeth Central
- Zwide, Kwazakhele, Algoa Park
- Korsten, Fairview, Lorraine
