Position Purpose
Transnet Port Terminals is excited to invite dynamic and recently qualified graduates to apply for our two-year Young Professional-in-Training Programme. This 24-month programme is designed to provide a solid foundation for your professional career. You will benefit from structured learning modules, valuable hands-on workplace experience, and comprehensive organizational support. The programme aims to equip you with the essential skills needed to excel in the fields of operations, research, and related disciplines, setting you on a path to becoming a future leader within our organization.
Key Responsibilities
As a Young Professional-in-Training, your role will be diverse and engaging. You will be expected to:
- Receive and understand work briefs from assigned mentors or specialists to clearly define and structure your deliverables.
- Execute a variety of project tasks efficiently, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Deliver high-quality outputs that contribute to practical and effective business solutions.
- Communicate professionally with internal and external customers, managing queries and providing timely updates on progress.
- Provide essential administrative and research support to your department as required.
- Strictly adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and the highest ethical standards in the workplace.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and integrity in handling all company information and tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this prestigious programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A completed Honours or Master’s degree in Operations Research or Statistical Sciences is required.
- Experience: This is a graduate programme; 0–1 year of relevant work experience is acceptable. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Eligibility: Must be a South African citizen. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
