Job Overview

10 2nd Avenue Houghton Estate is a luxurious boutique hotel in Johannesburg. We are looking for a Reservationist to join our dynamic team. This role is very important to our hotel’s success. You will manage reservations and give exceptional customer service to our guests. You will handle inquiries, process bookings, and communicate with guests. You must follow hotel policies and procedures at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Reservation Handling: You will manage incoming reservation inquiries through phone, email, and online platforms. Help guests make reservations, change existing bookings, and provide details about room availability, rates, and hotel amenities. Enter reservation details accurately into our reservation system. Monitor room availability to ensure smooth operations.

Customer Service: Offer personalized help to guests. Address their questions and concerns quickly and professionally. Give recommendations on room choices, packages, and special requests. Handle any guest complaints or issues well. Escalate serious matters to management when needed.

Administrative Duties: Keep accurate records of all reservations, cancellations, and changes. Prepare and share daily reports on reservations, occupancy rates, and room availability. Work with other hotel departments, like housekeeping and front desk, to ensure guests have a seamless experience.

Sales and Upselling: Promote our hotel services, packages, and special offers during reservation talks. Suggest room upgrades, extra services, and amenities to improve the guest experience and increase revenue.

Communication and Coordination: Communicate clearly with guests, team members, and other departments for smooth daily operations. Work with the sales and marketing team on promotional strategies to meet revenue goals. Pass on special guest requests or preferences to the right departments to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education: You need a high school diploma or equivalent. Extra training or certification in hospitality management or a related field is a bonus.

Experience: Previous work in customer service, sales, or hospitality is preferred. You should be skilled in using reservation management systems and software.

Skills: You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Pay strong attention to detail and be accurate with data entry. Work well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once. Be flexible with shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on the hotel’s schedule.
