About the Job

We are looking for a reliable and organized Storekeeper to join our team in Pretoria. In this role, you will manage the ordering, receiving, and issuing of food, resale, and beverage items. You will ensure everything runs smoothly in the storerooms, fridges, and freezers while maintaining high standards of hygiene and stock control. This position requires strong attention to detail, good teamwork skills, and experience in stock management.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Administering the ordering of all food, resale, and beverage items to keep stock levels adequate.
  • Working as part of a team with excellent interpersonal skills to support daily operations.
  • Receiving all stock deliveries from suppliers in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Issuing stock from fridges, freezers, dry stores, and chemical stores according to company specifications on portion sizes, quantities, and timing.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely costing of stock, meals, and functions on a daily basis.
  • Processing and receiving all invoices daily through the My Market system.
  • Conducting weekly stock takes to monitor inventory levels and identify any discrepancies.
  • Maintaining high hygiene standards in all storage areas as per Fedics guidelines.
  • Planning ahead for upcoming days to ensure all necessary stock is available, and reporting any shortages promptly.
  • Keeping storerooms, fridges, and freezers clean, with products stacked neatly and properly date-marked at all times.
  • Managing wastage and leftovers to minimize losses and promote efficiency.
  • Performing proper handovers during shift changes or absences to ensure continuity.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and clients.
  • Safeguarding all products and equipment in the storeroom from damage or theft.
  • Reporting customer complaints and compliments, and taking appropriate action where possible.
  • Relieving staff in other local units as needed, and carrying out any reasonable requests from management.
  • Implementing stock rotation practices to ensure older items are used first.
  • Reporting on product quality issues to maintain standards.
  • Adhering to set store operating times for smooth workflow.
  • Assisting with other duties outside your usual responsibilities when required.

Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and qualities:

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members, suppliers, and clients.
  • Excellent client and customer service skills to handle inquiries and maintain satisfaction.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with systems like My Market for inventory and invoicing.

Competencies

  • Good knowledge of food and beverage items and handling procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a team while paying close attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • A positive, punctual, and professional attitude towards work and colleagues.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in costing, stock control, and storekeeping (advantageous).
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in a similar role.
  • Experience using the My Market system.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment would be advantageous.
