Receptionist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Receptionist to join our team at the Office of the Valuer-General in Pretoria. This entry-level position offers a permanent contract and is ideal for individuals who enjoy interacting with people and providing excellent customer service in a government office environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Receptionist, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations at the front desk. Your main duties will include:
- Providing reception support services by welcoming visitors and clients warmly.
- Directing visitors to the appropriate destinations within the office.
- Receiving and handling incoming telephone calls professionally.
- Offering accurate information and assistance to clients and visitors.
- Maintaining a tidy and organized reception area at all times.
- Managing telephone services, including screening and forwarding calls.
- Taking and recording telephone messages accurately.
- Updating and maintaining telephone directories.
- Recording incoming and outgoing faxes in the relevant registers.
- Safeguarding office equipment and monitoring its condition.
- Reporting any faulty equipment to the appropriate personnel promptly.
This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that all visitors and callers receive a positive first impression of our organization. You will be the friendly face of the Office of the Valuer-General, contributing to efficient daily operations.
Requirements
Formal Qualifications
A Grade 12 certificate (National Senior Certificate or equivalent) is required.
Experience
No previous work experience is necessary for this entry-level position. This is an excellent opportunity for recent matriculants or individuals starting their career in administration.
Knowledge
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Strong language skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and at different levels.
- Good telephone etiquette to handle calls professionally.
