A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Artisan at our client’s biotechnology facility in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring the reliability of services and utilities. This role requires a motivated and organized individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work odd hours and overtime may be necessary depending on workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment and machinery are serviced and maintained at scheduled intervals.
- Negotiate with service providers to secure the best price and quality of service.
- Operate and maintain the Raw Water pH and Filtration Plant, RO system, HVAC system, Compressed Air, and Boilers, with daily measurements recorded and documented.
- Manage the critical parts store, identifying and acquiring necessary spare parts in collaboration with team leaders and the production manager.
- Maintain building and premises according to operational requirements.
- Comply with OHSA requirements and wear required safety equipment, such as hearing aids and safety goggles.
- Update and maintain standard operating procedures for the department.
- Assist in the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of new equipment and processes as directed by the Maintenance Foreman.
- Ensure day-to-day operations are effective, organized, and coordinated, meeting all company standards and policies.
- Support and promote company values, goals, and ethical practices.
Essential Knowledge/Experience
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment (e.g., grinder, drill, electrical saw, welder).
- Strong electrical experience.

Qualifications
- Minimum N3 Certificate with a trade test (Electrician or Electrical Fitter).
- At least 5 years’ experience as an Artisan.
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing/utility systems is an advantage.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Wireman’s licence is an advantage.
