Independent school in the heart of the Winelands seeks an innovative, dedicated Afrikaans First Additional Language Specialist to teach Grades 8–12. Key Teaching Responsibilities

  1. Curriculum Development & Delivery

    • Design and implement CAPS-aligned lesson plans for Grades 8–12.

    • Create engaging digital resources (e.g., interactive quizzes, multimedia content).

    • Adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs.

  2. Academic Excellence

    • Prepare learners rigorously for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.

    • Monitor student progress through assessments and personalized feedback.

  3. Cultural Leadership

    • Lead Afrikaans cultural initiatives (e.g., Afrikaans Week, drama productions, poetry competitions).

    • Promote appreciation for Afrikaans literature and heritage.

  4. Extracurricular Commitment

    • Coach one summer sport (e.g., cricket, tennis, swimming) as part of the school’s holistic development programme.


Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Registration:

  • B.Ed. or PGCE with specialisation in Afrikaans.

  • Valid SACE registration (non-negotiable).

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years teaching Afrikaans FAL in Grades 8–12 at a South African high school.

  • Native fluency in Afrikaans (written and spoken).

  • Proven track record of strong NSC results.

  • Tech proficiency (MS Office, learning management systems).

Personal Attributes:

  • Leadership in academic and cultural contexts.

  • Adaptability in a dynamic school environment.

  • Competitive Salary: R35,000 – R42,000 per month (based on experience and qualifications).
