We seek a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our Intermediate Phase educators (Grades 4–7) in a dynamic, technology-rich learning environment. This role is ideal for an education professional passionate about fostering academic growth in 10–13-year-old learners through collaborative teaching methods.


Detailed Daily Responsibilities

  1. Learning Material Preparation & Classroom Management

    • Design and assemble engaging teaching resources (worksheets, visual aids, interactive kits).

    • Create and maintain educational wall displays aligned with term themes and curricula.

    • Manage classroom organisation systems, including resource inventories and storage solutions.

  2. Technology Integration Support

    • Set up and troubleshoot digital equipment (projectors, tablets, interactive whiteboards).

    • Assist teachers in delivering technology-enhanced lessons (e.g., loading educational apps, managing virtual learning tools).

    • Provide basic technical support during live digital sessions.

  3. Learner Academic Support

    • Facilitate small-group reading sessions to improve comprehension and fluency.

    • Supervise project-based learning activities (research tasks, science experiments, creative arts).

    • Support differentiated instruction for learners requiring additional guidance.

  4. Operational & Administrative Duties

    • Maintain accurate records of learning materials and equipment.

    • Prepare classrooms daily for scheduled activities.

    • Assist with break-time supervision as required.


Essential Qualifications & Experience

Formal Requirements:

  • Teaching Assistant Certificate (NQF Level 4 or higher, SAQA-accredited).

  • Valid Driver’s License (for occasional resource collection/educational trips).

  • Police Clearance Certificate (recent, within 3 months).

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with 10–13-year-old learners in a formal school setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to support project-based and inquiry-led learning approaches.

Technical Competencies:

  • Technology Proficiency: Competence in MS Office, Google Classroom, and educational apps.

  • Language Skills: Fluent in English and isiZulu (written and spoken) for effective learner/parent communication.

Comprehensive Package Details

Remuneration:

  • Hourly Rate: R65 – R80 (dependent on qualifications and experience).

  • Monthly Earnings: R5,200 – R6,400 (based on 20-hour week).
