About the Job

You will work with the Pharmacy Manager to complete the National Certificate: Pharmacy Assistance Learnership Programme (Basic Learner Pharmacist Assistant) and the Further Education & Training Certificate: Pharmacist Assistance (Post Basic Learner Pharmacist Assistant). The programme is provided by the accredited Pharmacy Healthcare Academy and includes both theoretical and practical training, culminating in a qualification registered on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all Learnership Training Contracts at a registered Unicare Pharmacy under an approved tutor.
  • Attend required training sessions and pass all competency assessments.
  • Submit a Portfolio of Evidence to demonstrate learning outcomes.
  • Support the healthcare team within a Unicare pharmacy, working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and within the legal scope defined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 completion with at least 50% in Mathematics (or 60% in Mathematical Literacy), 50% in English, and a pass in Life Science (Biology) or Physics.

Work Back Agreement

Successful applicants will sign a Work Back Agreement, committing to work at Unicare as a qualified Pharmacist Assistant for a period equal to the length of the learnership (minimum).
